Feed My Sheep

Feed My Sheep

The risen Jesus charged Peter three times to feed and tend His sheep, commissioning him to care for believers. Spiritual leadership is fundamentally about nurturing others - providing teaching, encouragement, and protection. It matters because God's people need shepherding, and every mature believer has a role in caring for others. In daily life, this looks like checking in on fellow believers, sharing what you're learning, and encouraging someone who's struggling.

Feed my lambs, tend my sheep

John 21:15-17

Jesus restores Peter through three questions matching his three denials - then commissions him to pastoral care, showing that restoration leads to renewed responsibility.

S15o when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Love for Jesus is proven by care for His people. The shepherd does not own the sheep. He tends them for the sake of the One who does. Feeding, leading, and protecting are the proof of love.

3

The under-shepherds who truly love Jesus will feed the flock with the Word, not with entertainment or self-help. The sheep belong to Jesus. We answer to Him for how we cared for them.
