Historical Narrative
These books trace God's dealings with his people from the conquest of Canaan through the eras of judges and kings to the exile and restoration, and onward to the birth of the church in Acts. They display the Lord's faithfulness to his covenants even as Israel repeatedly turns aside, highlighting pivotal figures such as Joshua, David, and the apostles whose lives advance the redemptive purposes of God. In reading them one encounters both the consequences of disobedience and the enduring hope found in divine mercy that prepares the way for the promised Savior.
