The Hidden Treasure
Jesus presents the kingdom of heaven as a treasure hidden in a field which a man unexpectedly discovers. Overcome with joy, he hides it again and sells everything he owns to buy that field and secure the treasure for himself. Spoken to the disciples, this parable reveals the kingdom's surpassing worth within God's redemptive purposes, calling for complete surrender of all else so that one may obtain what alone satisfies and endures.
