The Ten Virgins
Jesus told this parable to his disciples to stress the urgency of remaining spiritually prepared for his return as judge and bridegroom. Ten virgins set out with lamps to meet him, yet only five had wisely brought extra oil, while the others slumbered without provision until a midnight cry announced his arrival. The wise entered the wedding feast, but the door was shut against the foolish who found no time left to obtain what they lacked. In the redemptive story this warns that eternity hinges on present readiness, for no second chance will come when Christ appears.
