Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son, as affirmed in New Testament passages such as Matthew 28:19 and 2 Corinthians 13:14. Following Jesus' promise in John 14-16, the Spirit was poured out at Pentecost in Acts 2, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies like Joel 2:28-29 and empowering the apostles with visible signs and spiritual gifts to launch the church's mission. This same Spirit now indwells believers at conversion, providing ongoing conviction of sin, empowerment for ministry, and guidance into truth as seen throughout the epistles. Its significance rests in enabling the new covenant community to experience God's presence and continue Christ's work until his return.
