The Church

The Church

The Church, referred to as the body of Christ in Scripture, consists of believers called out from the world to form a unified community for worshiping God and advancing His purposes. This theme traces to Jesus' promise in Matthew 16:18 to build His church upon the confession of faith, a reality fulfilled through the Holy Spirit's outpouring at Pentecost in Acts 2, which empowered the first believers to proclaim the gospel. Passages such as Ephesians 1:22-23 and 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 further portray the Church as Christ's living extension on earth, equipped with diverse gifts to carry out mission work amid opposition. Its enduring significance rests in demonstrating God's redemptive plan, fostering spiritual growth, and serving as the primary means for believers to participate in divine reconciliation until Christ's return.
