Bezalel
Chosen by God to oversee the intricate work of building the tabernacle, Bezalel was filled with the Spirit in wisdom, understanding, and knowledge for every kind of craftsmanship, enabling him to fashion the ark, mercy seat, and all the vessels that would manifest God's presence among his people. This anointing marks the first explicit mention in Scripture of such a filling, revealing how the Spirit empowers practical skill for sacred purposes within the unfolding story of redemption. His labors turned raw materials into a dwelling place that prefigured both the incarnate presence of Christ and the Spirit's later indwelling in the church.

Did You Know?
Bezalel, whose Hebrew name means "in the shadow of God," belonged to the tribe of Judah as the son of Uri and grandson of Hur, the same Hur who helped steady Moses' arms during the battle against Amalek in Exodus 17.
Although the Tabernacle required advanced metallurgy, weaving, and gem-cutting, Exodus 35:34 notes that God also gave Bezalel the supernatural ability to teach his skills to others, creating an entire guild of artisans from scratch in the wilderness.
Bezalel was entrusted with compounding both the sacred anointing oil and the pure incense according to exact divine formulas, tasks that combined artistic craftsmanship with priestly ritual knowledge normally reserved for the tabernacle service itself.
His chief assistant Oholiab came from the tribe of Dan, a pairing that united the royal tribe of Judah with the Danites' reputation for skilled workmanship and thereby represented the full participation of all Israel in the sanctuary project.
The text specifies that Bezalel executed every detail according to the heavenly pattern Moses had seen on Sinai, meaning he translated intangible divine blueprints into tangible objects such as the cherubim-covered ark and the hammered golden menorah.
