Malchus' Ear Restored
During Jesus' arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, as armed men seized him, the disciple Peter drew a sword and cut off the right ear of Malchus, a servant of the high priest Caiaphas. Jesus immediately rebuked the violence and touched the man's ear, restoring it completely in an act of healing. This miracle, described in Luke 22 and John 18, demonstrates Jesus' compassion toward an opponent amid betrayal and highlights his refusal to resist arrest through force. It also reinforces scriptural themes of mercy, the fulfillment of prophecy, and the nonviolent nature of his mission.
