Abihu
As a son of Aaron and Elisheba, Abihu served in the priestly role during the Exodus, yet he and his brother Nadab met sudden death when they presented unauthorized incense before the Lord. Their failure to follow the prescribed manner of worship resulted in consuming fire from heaven, and since they left no children, their line played no part in the subsequent divisions of the priesthood. Their story thus highlights the strict holiness demanded in approaching God under the covenant.

Did You Know?
Abihu joined his brother Nadab in ascending Mount Sinai with Moses, Aaron, and seventy elders, where they ate and drank in the presence of God without harm before their later fatal mistake.
Immediately after Abihu's death, God commanded Aaron and his surviving sons never to drink wine or strong drink before entering the tent of meeting, implying the unauthorized incense may have been offered while intoxicated.
Abihu's mother Elisheba was the sister of Nahshon, the Judahite leader who would become an ancestor of King David, creating a rare blood link between the priestly line and the future royal tribe.
Unlike his brothers Eleazar and Ithamar, Abihu left no surviving descendants to continue a priestly branch, as both he and Nadab died without recorded heirs.
After Abihu and Nadab were struck down inside the tabernacle, their bodies had to be removed by their cousins Mishael and Elzaphan using their own tunics because Aaron and his remaining sons were barred from any public mourning rituals.
