Ithamar supervised the detailed inventory of tabernacle materials during its construction, as recorded in Exodus 38:21, a role that required meticulous accounting of gold, silver, and bronze contributed by the Israelites.

As the designated overseer for the Gershonite and Merarite clans in Numbers 4:28 and 4:33, Ithamar coordinated the transport of the tabernacle's massive frames, curtains, and sockets across the wilderness, ensuring the structure could be assembled and disassembled flawlessly each time Israel moved camp.

After Nadab and Abihu's deaths by divine fire in Leviticus 10, Ithamar and Eleazar alone maintained the priestly continuity under Aaron, with Ithamar later assisting in the transfer of duties to Eleazar upon Aaron's death in Numbers 20.
